Like a stone (Audioslave)

on a cobweb afternoon
in a room full of emptiness
by a freeway i confess
i was lost in the pages
of a book full of death
reading how we'll die alone
and if we're good we'll lay to rest
anywhere we want to go

(chorus)
in your house i long to be
room by room patiently
i'll wait for you there
like a stone i'll wait for you there
alone

on my deathbed i will pray
to the gods and the angels
like a pagan to anyone
who will take me to heaven
to a place i call
i was there so long ago
the sky was bruised
the wine was bled
and there you led me on

in your house i long to be
room by room patiently
i'll wait for you there
like a stone i'll wait for you there
alone

and on i read
until the day was gone
and i sat in regret
of all the things i've done
for all that i've blessed
and all that i've wronged
in dreams until my death
i will wander on

Confesso que só prestei atenção na letra hoje de manhã. Fone de ouvido, som alto, pessoas conversando ao meu redor e eu ouço "i was lost in the pages of a book full of death reading how we'll die alone".
Eu sabia que conhecia isso de algum lugar...

Oh you compassionate ones possessing the wisdom of understanding, the love of compassion, the power of acting, and of protecting in incomprehensible measure, one is passing through this world and leaving it behind. No friends does he have, he is without defenders, without protectors and kinsmen. The light of this world has set. he goes from place to place, he enters darkness, he falls down a steep precipice, he enters a jungle of solitude, he is pursued by karmic forces, he goes into a vast silence, he is borne away on the great ocean, he is wafted on the wind of karma, he goes where there is no certainty, he is caught in the great conflict, he is obsessed by the great affecting spirit, he is awed and terrified by the messengers of death. Existing karma has put him into repeated existence and no strength does he have although the time has come to go alone.
